Our free assessment consists of an interior/exterior visual inspection of your home to identify trouble spots for energy loss and areas for improvement. We will measure and evaluate existing insulation levels where possible (attics,crawlspaces, etc). Also included is a post analysis review of findings and a list of things that you as the homeowner complete yourself with little effort to start saving energy and money now!
Common Air Infiltrations
You can see from the above diagram where most common air infiltrations occur. Sealing and insulating the “envelope” or “shell” of your home — its outer walls, ceiling, windows, doors, and floors — is often the most cost effective way to improve energy efficiency and comfort. ENERGY STAR estimates that a homeowner can save up to 20% on heating and cooling costs (or up to 10% on their total annual energy bill) by sealing and insulating.
ENERGY STAR recommends starting by:
- Seaingl air leaks throughout the home to stop drafts
- Adding insulation to block heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer
- Choosing ENERGY STAR qualified windows when replacing windows
