One of the world’s most famous buildings is now one of the most energy-efficient commercial buildings in the country.
Did you know the same glass technology used in this building is available for your home from Long Windows?
Long Window’s manufacturer has upgraded the 6,500 dual pane windows in the Empire State Building by reusing all existing glass and creating super-insulating glass units. The removed windows were taken to a micro factory on the fifth floor where they were cleaned, repaired and enhanced.
The project, which started in April, was completed at the close of 2010.
Long Windows is proud to be partnered with the company responsible for a large portion of this greening effort.
All of the integrated energy-efficient upgrades of the retrofit project are targeted to:
- reduce energy use by 38%
- save $4.4 million per year in energy costs
- save 105,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide over the next 15 years
- pay for themselves in 3 years
