Chief Executive Officer and President
John DePaola is Chief Executive Officer and President of Long Fence and Home, one of the largest installers of residential windows and home improvements in the Washington, DC, metropolitan marketplace.
After nearly a decade of experience in product development at Long Fence, Mr. Long asked Mr. DePaola to expand the brand by adding other home improvement products to the Long Fence lines. The two saw the market was in need of a trusted leader in other quality products for the home, and thus embarked on a new endeavor.
Working closely with Mr. Long and following his well-gathered advice and instructions, Mr. DePaola established a new product initiative: marketing, selling, installing and servicing replacement windows, siding and doors. Today, Mr. DePaola runs the entire operation, ensuring that all functions are working towards the company’s ultimate goal: to service area homeowners with the highest quality and best value in replacement windows and doors, exterior siding and quality kitchen remodeling. He has been the president of Long Fence and Home since the company’s inception in 1994, and now operates under the title of CEO.
Mr. DePaola holds a B.S. in Engineering Science from Loyola College in Maryland and an MBA from the University of Baltimore. He enjoys an occasional round of golf, exercising and cruising in his beloved convertible Mustang. He takes advantage of every opportunity to spend time with his family, travel new places and visit his family’s beach home in Delaware.
Jill Long DePaola
Executive Officer at Long Fence and Home
Jill Long DePaola is Executive Officer at Long Fence and Home. With 20 years in the business, Jill focuses on managing the company’s financial and marketing operations.
Since its start in 1994, Jill has been involved with building and implementing core business strategies for Long Fence and Home. With the guidance of her father, Mr. Robert Long, renowned in the fence industry for more than 70 years, Jill Long DePaola was encouraged to satisfy client needs with additional home improvement products.
While raising three children, she maintained a strong work-life balance and helped grow the company to serve thousands of clients each year. She holds a B.S. from Loyola College in Maryland and an MBA from the University of Baltimore. Jill also serves on the Board of Directors for Elizabeth Seton High School, her Alma Mater and a school she believes helped shape her core values and successes of today. In addition to her work on the Board at ESHS, she also serves on the Oncology Philanthropy Council at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Here she is working to support cancer patients in the post-treatment phase by supporting the creation of a comprehensive treatment summary and Survivorship Care Plan for each patient. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, golf and taking walks with the familiy’s rambunctious but charming Jack Russell Terrier named Tucker who often accompanies her to work and serves as the company mascot.
Chief Operating Officer
Dave joined Long Fence and Home as Chief Operating Officer in 2011 – bringing with him over 30 years experience in the Home Improvement Industry. Dave knows Long Fence and Home well and is excited to help the company reach its full potential. Dave is responsible for the company’s day-to-day operations and the client’s 100% guaranteed satisfaction. Dave stays busy continuously refining the company’s operations to ensure a smooth customer experience from start to completion of the project.
Dave is a Boston native and has been married to his high school sweetheart for 39 years. He is the proud father of 2 children and 4 beautiful granddaughters.
Director of the Siding Division
John Stech is the Director of the Siding Division and joined Long Fence and Home in 1999. Along with the responsibility of training and managing his “team of superstars,” it’s important for Mr. Stech to build strong relationships with his team and his clients.
“My goal is to not only meet but exceed company goals by mentoring and coaching my team to achieve their own individual goals,” Mr. Stech said. “Our division has strong potential to expand into several more offices and I look forward to recruiting and nurturing new talent who can meet the challenge. The better trained our people are, the better the experience for the client.”
For Mr. Stech, the company culture is what makes Long Fence and Home a unique place. The company’s core values and the openness of communication, which is felt throughout the company, create a highly supportive work environment.
“It’s a very professional environment, which promotes corporate and personal growth,” Mr. Stech said.
The company trip to Las Vegas is still one of his fondest memories and he enjoys the opportunity to travel and build relationships with others in the Long Fence and Home family through the company’s sales award travel program. When he’s not working or traveling, his family barbeques are a favorite event.
Director of the Roofing Division
Yanni joined the Long Fence and Home family as a Product Specialist and now manages a team– specializing in Windows, Siding and Roofing. Yanni has seven years in the home improvement industry and uses this knowledge to help improve the homes and lives of our clients.
When Long Fence and Home added Roofing to its distinguished list of quality products, Yanni was the perfect choice to head up the new department. He passed rigorous testing and became a certified Master Shingle Applicator by Certainteed.
Yanni is proud of his Greek heritage and recently married his beautiful bride, Gina. Yanni has a pitbull named Titan, is an avid Baltimore Ravens fan, enjoys the beach, traveling and working out at the gym.
Director of the Window and Door Division
Matt started his career at Long Fence and Home as a Product Specialist in the Window and Door Division. He demonstrated a deep passion for his job and was promoted to Manager of the Window and Door Division. Matt’s philosophy is teamwork and great communication make for a successful organization. He is now using his knowledge and passion to train his team to help improve the homes and lives of our clients.
Matt is a native of Davidsonville, MD. He has a Bachelors in Business Management and minor in Entrepreneurship from Radford University. Some of his hobbies include fishing, hunting, and spending time with his dog, Tanner.
John DePaola Jr.
As Operations Manager, Johnny is learning every facet of the business and strives for the goal of 100% client satisfaction. He carries on the mission of the company – to improve the homes and lives of our clients.
He received a Bachelor of Science from Jacksonville University with a Marketing major and Management minor. Johnny also had a great interest in International Business during college having studied in Shanghai, China. After college he worked in the logistics field for a national trucking company. He later returned to China and spent a year in Beijing teaching students in an English Immersion Program.
Johnny is from Annapolis, Maryland. He enjoys spending time with family and friends and boating on the Chesapeake Bay. His favorite sport is Baseball having played and pitched for 15 years and has a love for ice hockey and the Washington Capitals.
Mike is a third generation carpenter with over 25 years in the home improvement industry. Mike is responsible for the coordination of all product installation from start to finish – ensuring time frames are met and complete client satisfaction is achieved. His daily mission is to maintain and nurture the five star installation department that continues to make the Long name proud.
Mike lives in Halethorpe, Maryland, is married, has three children and 2 grand children. In his spare time, he likes playing cards, bowling and spending time with his grand kids. He’s coached baseball for 15 years, is a former VP of the Ravens Roost 28 and never misses his grand kids’ sporting events.
Siding Project Manager
Jerry Stephenson joined the Long Fence and Home team in 2006, when he began managing installations in the kitchen department. Jerry now Since the beginning, the quality of Long Fence and Home’s people, products, performance and service have made his job a rewarding one.
As Siding Project Manager, Mr. Stephenson is in charge of reviewing material orders, coordinating installations and performing quality control inspections. He provides in-home service when his personal touch is necessary to get the job done. For Mr. Stephenson, the best part of the job is the people.
“The people I work with here are like a family,” he said.
He enjoys meeting new clients each day and thrives in the challenge of making their expectations become realities.
“Customer service is about organization,” Mr. Stephenson said. “At Long Fence and Home, we make sure everything is prepared in advance and plan ahead for anything that may happen in the process.
“Mr. Stephenson holds a M.S. in Geology from Western Washington University. In his free time, he enjoys working on his own home in Severna Park, Md. with his wife, AnnMarie and their Gordon Setter, Devin.
Roofing Project Manager
Victor joined the Long Fence and Home family in 2012 and brought with him an extensive background of over 13 years in the home improvement industry. He is responsible for ensuring roofing measurements are accurate, inspects each order as it arrives from the manufacturer for quality control and makes sure his roofing installation crews are prepared with all of the correct supplies each day before heading to a client’s home.
Victor’s favorite aspect of his job is visiting with our clients. He lives by the golden rule, “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” and this philosophy has served him and our clients well.
Victor is from North Carolina and joined the army at age 18 to proudly serve his country in the 82nd Airborne. While in the army Victor was able to indulge his love of sightseeing while he traveled throughout Europe. These days Victor enjoys time spent with his four children and 4 grandchildren. In his spare time he loves to camp, is active in his church and is a history buff.
Window/Door Project Manager
Gene Broomell began working at Long Fence and Home in 1996. His product training began with siding and then expanded to include windows and doors. He spent many years learning about the company’s products and educating clients on the products and services available from Long Fence and Home.
As the Quality Control Manager, Mr. Broomell’s responsibilities now include managing pre-installation inspections and overseeing final measures on window and door installations. He also runs quality control inspections, provides support for his production team and services installed projects. “Our clients have trusted us to do a project in their homes and our job is to exceed their expectations. I want to reward each customer for the trust they have placed in us.
“Mr. Broomell says the company’s commitment to both its employees and its clients stems from strong core values. “It’s a commitment that shows up in the work environment, as well as the efforts made to provide our clients with quality products, installation, and service.”
Mr. Broomell holds a B.S. in Management from Rutgers University in New Jersey. He lives in Crownsville, Md. with his wife, Debbie, in the house they built together in 1986. He enjoys working on his home and spending time with his four children and four grandchildren.
Robert Hunter IV
As Marketing Director for Long Fence and Home, Robert’s goal is to bring our message of quality products and workmanship to our customer base and beyond. He is responsible for maintaining the trusted Long reputation through our advertising and other communications with the public. Robert has a B.S. from Towson University and an M.B.A. from Loyola University. Robert is incredibly passionate about marketing, communications and social media and has earned many marketing awards. He came to Long Fence and Home with more than 10 years experience working business-to-business, business-to-customer, government and non-profit companies conducting business on a local, national and international level. Robert writes a marketing blog that has been read in more than 150 countries! His motto is, “ anything worth doing is worth doing well.”
In his spare time, Robert enjoys family time with his wife and two daughters and is hoping to add a four-legged member of the family! He’s a big Baltimore Ravens fan, is a classically trained singer and likes to bowl and play chess. He also likes to do charity work and volunteer as much as he can.
Marketing Manager, Outbound Department
Vincent joined Long Fence and Home in 2012, bringing with him an impressive 23 years of experience in the Home Improvement Industry. Vincent’s mottos are, “may the rest of your life be the best of your life!” and “any great team can create their own destiny!” He says that he and his team have a competitive spirit and they enjoy the challenge of meeting or exceeding the goals set for the team.
Vincent is a lifelong unapologetic Philly fan. He spends his spare time with his three children he is very proud of – Meagan, Vincent II and Pierce.
Stephanie Long Patten
Stephanie joined Long Fence and Home in 2009 as a part time member of our marketing department. She transitioned into a full time position after proving herself an invaluable member of the marketing team and now manages the media, internet and confirmation departments. These are the people you talk to when you call for an estimate or request more information on our website. Stephanie has strived to have a “Team of Champions” and believes she has achieved that through lots of training and hard work.
Stephanie genuinely cares about our customers and knows that it’s her teams’ job to make a great first impression for the company. Her grandfather started the company many years ago which is now owned and operated by her cousins. She strongly believes in her family’s legacy that has made Long Fence and Home what it is today.
When not at work Stephanie is beach-bound. She enjoys getting away to her home in Ocean City, Maryland and loves her annual trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with her husband (so much so that she has “MRS CABO” vanity tags on her car.)
